I had the opportunity in November, to pay around ten thousand dollars to have a new roof put on my house.  Wow.  There are a lot of things I would like to do with ten thousand dollars…  that wasn’t really one of them!!!  However, having a house, there are some things you need to do to keep it up, or your run into bigger and more expensive problems.

A good friend of mine delayed re-doing his roof.  He kept looking for a better quote and, as he took too long to make up his mind, he went through another winter and saw significant leaking.  This caused ceiling and drywall damage and possibly led to mould in the house, which is  harmful to your health. Delay cost him more in the end.

Why am I talking about this in an article about wellness?  Putting on a new roof was an expenditure that I didn’t welcome, because it doesn’t seem like there is anything to show for it.  It’s not like buying a new big screen television or living room furniture where you can sit back and admire your new acquisition.  I can guarantee that no one will come to the office after the roof is on and compliment me on my lovely new roof.  You won’t  even notice.  However, it is very important to maintain our house for it to continue to work well.

In the same way, it is important to maintain our bodies in order for them to continue to function well.  Regular exercise, eating healthy food,  getting consistent sleep- all of these are important parts of maintenance.  Sadly, it seems to cost more to “eat healthy” than to eat junk food.  This is an investment you make in yourself, like my new roof.  Getting regular chiropractic tune-ups  are part of that maintenance.  Our bodies are under significant stress- postural stress from working online, checking phones, raking leaves, shovelling snow (coming soon ! 😉 and daily living.  We take on mental and emotional stress from family concerns, work deadlines, and life in general.  Getting regular care helps you to release stored tension patterns. Take the time to invest in yourself and make sure you get in for regular care this month!
