I saw a new patient last month who has experienced tinnitus, a constant ringing in the ear, for the past 18 months. After her third visit, she came in to report that she’d gone a couple of days with no noise!  In the absence of the tinnitus, she was able to recognize the toll it had been taking on her physical and mental health.  She said this reminded her of walking in her neighbourhood during a power outage and experiencing a different kind of peace as she realized that the transformers for the street lights were silent and not providing the underlying hum that is always there.  I could relate immediately.  One of the aging lights in our kitchen gives off a steady buzz.  You don’t realize how annoying it is until you turn it off!

Noise pollution is a very real problem.  According to Wikipedia, noise pollution can affect our physiological health. Noise pollution is associated with several health conditions including cardiovascular disorders, hypertension, high stress levels, tinnitus, hearing loss, sleep disturbances and a faster cognitive decline.  If at all possible, get a “break” from the noise and get some time in nature.  Experience true quiet and peace to allow your body to reset.

We can have “noise” in our nervous system.  When we hold on to patterns of spinal cord tension, this can provide a  steady constant stimulation of the spinal nerves and meninges.  There may not even be pain associated, but it will still affect many areas of our health.  With network care, we specifically address the underlying patterns of tension and allow the body to release those patterns to restore balance and ease.

If you are able to get out in nature and take a break from the external noise your body is exposed to- do it!   Make sure you also address the internal noise of your nervous system and get checked with Network Chiropractic care.  Your body will welcome the peace!
